DECORATIVE PLASTER FINISHES
Endless Possibilities
The possibilities are endless using decorative lime plasters. Textures, colour, form, shape, movement etc are all different finishes that can be achieved by using different types of plasters to get beautiful and unique finishes for any project.
TRADITIONAL LIME PLASTERING
Restore heritage buildings using correct Materials
In most buildings built before the 1920s the walls and ceilings were constructed using timber framing with lath and lime plaster. Lime is an incredibly unique material in that it lets the building breathe and controls the levels of moisture in the structure letting the whole building expand and contract at the same rate. Lime & Thistle Plastering has the knowledge and experience using and mixing traditional lime plasters so your heritage building can have the same quality and durability as the plasters that were installed at the time of construction.
CROWN MOULDING SERVICES
have your existing crown matched, or new profiles installed.
Matching traditional crown moulding and medallions is no easy task. I can strip back years of paint layers to reveal the true detail that was intended to be enjoyed by the homeowner. Lime & Thistle Plastering has years of experience replicating and matching very ornate cornices, corbels, arches, medallions, vaulted ceilings, sconces, pillars etc using the correct materials and techniques that the original plasterers were using.
VENEER PLASTERS
Traditional look and feel with modern materials
Veneer plastering is a two coat plaster application that can go over existing plaster or new drywall. This application has the exact same look and feel as a traditional lime plaster but because of the modified materials the application is quicker and has more crack resistance than a traditional plaster. Perfect for high traffic areas because of the hard surface, the veneer can take a lot more of a beating than regular drywall. Also perfect for areas with a lot of natural light as there is no flashing with a veneer plaster.
WHO I AM
Master Plasterer and owner Kieran Reid
Lime & Thistle Plastering's President and Master Plasterer Kieran John Reid was traditionally trained in Scotland and completed his professional trade apprenticeship at Edinburgh’s Telford College, receiving the Lecturers Scroll for his dedication and commitment to the plastering trade. Kieran has over 14 years experience plastering in five different countries, each with their own plastering technique. Bringing together this experience and knowledge, Lime & Thistle Plastering is able to solve any plaster problems their clients may have. Having the experience and knowledge to restore historic buildings using time sensitive materials is crucial for the survival and longevity of historic structures. Modern materials are not compatible with older buildings and using them will speed up deterioration of these historically valuable buildings. Kieran is one of the few qualified tradespersons in North America who has the experience and knowledge to carry out the type of work Lime & Thistle Plastering specializes in.
